A miner is a software application that works for a node of a Hotmoka blockchain based on Mokamint and contributes to the creation of new blocks, in exchange of crypto that you can later use to fuel your blockchain applications. Differently from the traditional mining algorithm of Bitcoin, that requires expensive CPU operations to create the next block, mining for Mokamint is based on proof of space: a chunk of disk space is preallocated in order to win the right to create the next block: the larger, the better. Mokamint mining is so lightweight that you won’t notice that it is running and you can even mine on a mobile phone.
Mine on a desktop computer
You just need a computer connected to the internet and the docker tool. Create the key that identifies you as a miner, preallocate the space for mining, connect to an existing Hotmoka node based on Mokamint and start mining. You will earn crypto whenever that node creates a block with the help of your miner: 50% of the prize goes to the node and 50% goes to your miner. Mine on a mobile phone or tablet
Leverage the continuous network connection of your phone for mining and earn crypto on the go.
