You can start, stop and restart a node that clones an existing blockchain and creates new blocks. Or you can instead start the first node of a brand new blockchain. All this by leveraging the simplicity of a docker image. You can both enjoy the lightweight decentralization of Mokamint’s proof of space or rather build a blockchain based on Tendermint’s proof of stake. Just choose the right image for your needs.
Mokamint node
A Hotmoka node that runs over the Mokamint proof of space engine. This is the normal choice, since the current Hotmoka mainnet and testnet are based on this image. Moreover, this image gives you full decentralization and anonymous participation of new nodes and miners. If you install a node, you will earn crypto whenever your node creates a new block, with the help of any local or remote miner connected to your node: 50% of the prize goes to your node and 50% goes to the miner.
Tendermint node
A Hotmoka node that runs over the Tendermint byzantine consensus engine. It implements a proof of stake validation algorithm. This choice is unusual for Hotmoka, but it is still available in case you want to start a brand new blockchain based on staked crypto and a dynamic set of validator nodes. If you install a validator node, you will earn crypto whenever your node creates a new block.
